Labels – Texture Mapping

Basic method for mapping a label to an object.

Fixing the common problems with cylindrical mapping of a label. Method #1 – telling the texture to only be applied to the front or back.

Method #2 – creating an actual 3D polygon label.

Creating a label with a deckled edge by using the alpha channels of a layered Photoshop file.

Putting a label on a non-cylindrical object. This requires some planning, how you decide to make the object can give you opportunities for re-using parts of the design for other things, such as a spline that is used to wrap the label accurately.

Creating bumped map glass embossing and labels.

NOTE: a 50% gray background when using an embossing image will remove any cutting or negative embossing of your object. Typically, white comes forward, black goes inward, grays remain neutral. See the example below.
